This week, we celebrated World Social Work Day!
To recognise the important work they do, we spoke with Senior Social Worker and Support Coordinator from our Therapy Team, Hannah M who shared her clinical insight into how social work is put into practice in the NDIS space.
“Social Workers work to ensure that people are able to thrive in their community. They seek to reduce barriers to care, support connection to therapy services and bring about a deeper understanding of what does and doesn’t work for each individual.
Social Work is fundamentally a discipline that explores where there are gaps and uses a variety of theories and practices to fill them. Participants in the NDIS experience a variety of challenges and Social Workers will meet clients where they are at and work together to problem-solve these issues and challenges. Social Workers will work with clients, parents and teachers and will work in the location that best suits them.”
