BA (hons) PhD
Guy is a Non-Executive Director and member of the Finance & Audit sub-committee.
I was elected to the Kudos Board by its members in November 2022.
As Australia’s first ‘public service mutual’, Kudos has the potential to demonstrate that hard-pressed human services can be delivered in both an enterprising and ethical way. As the Don Dunston Foundation 2018 Thinker in Residence, I was asked to advise on Kudos’ (formally Child and Youth Services) initial steps out of Government. Four years later, I am thrilled to continue to be a part of the Kudos journey.
I have been involved in the co-operative and social enterprise sector since 1988, including building a UK based $35m care co-operative from scratch, and co-creating ‘RED’ – an innovative approach to social enterprise development with people with disability. I am also the founding member and managing director of VIVA Mutual Foundation Limited – a South Australian-based NDIS provider.
Throughout my career I have won several awards including:
- Don Dunston Foundation 2018 Thinker in Residence – focused on building South Australia’s social economy by developing co-operative solutions to community and societal challenges.
- National winner in the 2016 Great British Care Awards for the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Social Care’ category.
- Winning UK national finalist in EY’s prestigious global competition, ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’.
Kudos needs to be a beacon for both the mutual sector, and wider society. The demographic challenges of both an ageing population and increased levels of disability and co-morbidities amongst the population demand innovation and mutual service delivery solutions. I will draw upon both my mutual and entrepreneurial skills and experience to support Kudos to continue to grow and deliver mutually based innovation.
